After having almost perfected the humanoid teaching assistant through the Eagle versions 1 to 6., ERL has now ventured into the field of educational apps through their latest offering the AI mentor app. Powered by ChatGPT, this app is meant to serve as a tool for personalization of education through self-directed learning. The aim its to develop independent learners who use the power of AI to update their academic skills as well as refine their life long competencies.

The AI mentor app satisfies 2 scenarios. The first being where it is integrated into the collaborative learning model experience. Here it acts as a repository of all the robot lessons so that students can view them again at a later stage. It also provides additional practice and self-assessments. The second scenario is where the app is used on its own as a tool which contains all the learning material, notes, videos, activities and assessments for students to use as a study tool or a revision guide.

In both these scenarios, the USP would be the introduction to competencies and tools and strategies to develop them. In that sense the app becomes a true mentor to its audience, in this case, the students. These competencies are explained through video and text and activities are provided to help students practice the competencies.

The app is slated to help students become more future minded by including scenario planning exercises as part of the competency building. Gamification and problem solving are also going to be introduced as means for self directed learning and conceptual understanding.
